Board members of Common Sense Media allegedly connected to Jeffrey Epstein

LA 2028 Olympics leader expresses regret over Ghislaine Maxwell emails

Concerns Surround Common Sense Media Board Members’ Ties to Epstein

Jim Steyer, brother of Tom Steyer, a California gubernatorial candidate, is raising eyebrows. His involvement with Common Sense Media (CSM), an organization focused on online safety for children, is complicated by the past associations of some board members with Jeffrey Epstein. This has become more concerning as more wealthy individuals face scrutiny over their interactions with Epstein, including emails and flights on his private jet.

CSM is set to host a conference next week, inviting several industry experts and notable Democratic politicians, like former California House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. The theme aims to prioritize children’s safety in the digital experience and provide insights for parents on protecting minors online.

While past connections between board members and Epstein may not indicate wrongdoing, the nature of their communications might raise questions about their judgment and the vetting process for joining CSM’s board. A CSM spokesperson reassured that after reviewing the pertinent references, they have no concerns regarding these individuals, asserting that the organization is committed to advocating for children’s best interests.

Interestingly, neither Jim nor Tom Steyer appeared in any of Epstein’s communications and have not been accused of any misconduct.

Tim Zagat’s Previous Encounters with Epstein

Tim Zagat, co-founder of the Zagat dining survey, is under scrutiny. According to reports, Zagat dined with Epstein multiple times and even attended a dinner party at Epstein’s Manhattan home in 2014, which also included figures like Woody Allen. Fox News reviewed emails showing Zagat had invited Epstein for dinner on several occasions.

Evidence suggests Zagat was also listed on a flight log from 2002 linked to Epstein, coinciding with attendance at a TED conference in California.

Geraldine Laybourne and Howard Gardner’s Connections

Geraldine Laybourne, former president of Nickelodeon, also appears in records related to Epstein. Laybourne has claimed ignorance of Epstein’s association and merely accepted a flight from New York to California. In contrast, Howard Gardner, an educational scholar, maintained correspondence with Epstein long after his crimes were publicized, appearing in official disclosures over 380 times.

Gardner later indicated that upon learning of Epstein’s arrest, he ceased accepting any funding but continued to communicate out of a sense of friendship.

Cyrus Vance Jr. and Chelsea Clinton Involvement

Cyrus Vance Jr., former Manhattan district attorney, joined CSM’s board amidst controversy. His office previously advocated for lighter treatment of Epstein, suggesting he be classified as a Level 1 sex offender, which raised eyebrows during Epstein’s trial.

Lastly, Chelsea Clinton, who has been part of CSM’s board for over a decade, was linked to Epstein when Ghislaine Maxwell attended her wedding. Although Chelsea has distanced herself from any ongoing relationship, prior associations have drawn questions from critics regarding the Clintons’ historic ties to both Epstein and Maxwell.

Thus, as these connections come to light, the ongoing discussion around the ethical implications of these relationships with Epstein continues to unfold. Each individual’s explanations and the organization’s mission face scrutiny from various angles.
