Trump Claims Iran Seeks Deal with U.S.

President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Iran is seeking a “deal” with the United States, highlighting what he described as significant concessions from Iranian leadership regarding the Strait of Hormuz and oil transportation.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, he mentioned that Iranian authorities had sent a “gift” on Monday that reached the U.S. the following day. “They’re going to make a deal. They did something amazing. They gave us a gift,” Trump remarked, indicating the gift was substantial and valuable.

While he didn’t disclose what the gift specifically was, Trump did mention it was related to “oil and gas” and the Strait of Hormuz, an important maritime route.

Previously, the Iranian regime had charged tankers significant fees to navigate through crucial shipping lanes.

Trump emphasized the importance of this unidentified gift, underscoring it meant their dealings were on track. “…It was a great thing for them to do… They said they would do it, and it happened,” he noted.

When asked about control over the Strait of Hormuz, he confidently stated, “We will control anything we want.” Trump suggested that Iran is in a weak position regarding negotiations, saying they need to forego certain capabilities like nuclear weapons to achieve a deal.

He indicated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance are leading the discussions related to this matter.
