Melania Trump Welcomes 45 First Spouses at the White House for Day Two of the Fostering the Future Together Summit

Global Coalition for a Future Summit at the White House

On Tuesday, First Lady Melania Trump hosted leaders from various nations at the White House, marking the second day of the Global Coalition for a Future Summit. The focus was on enhancing children’s education worldwide through technology.

Attendees included prominent figures such as Brigitte Macron from France, Princess Lalla Hasna of Morocco, Sheikh Aliyazia bint Saif Al Nahyan from the UAE, and numerous spouses of leaders from 45 countries, like Maricel Cohen de Mulino from Nama and Gertrude Mutharika from Panama.

This coalition also featured involvement from private sector giants including OpenAI, xAI, Palantir, Meta, Google, Adobe, and Microsoft.

In her introductory remarks, the First Lady discussed the potential for humanoid robots to take on educational roles. She expressed an intriguing vision for the future, stating, “The future of AI will be anthropomorphic. AI will take human form. Soon, artificial intelligence will move from mobile phones to humanoids that provide utility.”

She introduced an idea of an AI educator named “Plato,” describing how such a being could offer personalized access to a wide range of subjects. “Imagine a humanoid educator named Plato, and you have instant access to classical studies,” she said. “The complete corpus of humanity’s information is available in the comfort of your home. Plato provides an experience customized to each student’s needs.” She emphasized the benefits of having an always patient and accessible tutor, claiming it would nurture critical thinking and independent reasoning skills in children.

Moreover, she noted, “Powered by AI, Plato improves analytical and problem-solving skills, adapting in real time to students’ pace, prior knowledge, and emotional state.” This, she argued, would lead to a more balanced lifestyle for children, allowing them time for friendships, sports, and personal interests beyond academia.

The First Lady also highlighted the necessity of balancing optimism and caution regarding the future of technology. “The safety of our next generation is always a top priority,” she stated, adding that both private and public sectors must collaborate for true advancement in technology and education.

She reflected on moments in history that were pivotal due to technological breakthroughs, comparing these to the current rise of AI. “This technology has the potential to reset the modern world order and rebalance the balance of power.” She urged the coalition to support efforts that equip youth with necessary skills through investment and opportunity creation.

Other roundtable participants shared their insights after her address. Dr. Fatima Maada Bio emphasized the importance of education as a “lifeline” in Sierra Leone. “Education is a bridge between vulnerability and opportunity,” she remarked, pressing the need for action given the rapidly changing digital landscape our children face.

On the first day of the summit, delegates engaged in a work session at the State Department.
