Anger Follows Trans Migrant Receiving Only 6 Months in NY Jail for Assaulting Teen

The six-month prison sentence given to an undocumented transgender immigrant convicted of child rape has ignited outrage across New York City and beyond.

Nicole Alexandra Contreras Suarez, a 31-year-old from Colombia, pled guilty to raping a 14-year-old boy from East Harlem. He is set to be sentenced, with his formal sentencing scheduled for April 27th, but he is already in custody.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that this lenient sentence was reached through an agreement with the victim’s family, reportedly to spare the boy from testifying about his experience in a public courtroom.

Additionally, the office expressed expectations that Contreras-Suarez would be taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and subsequently deported after his prison term.

Contreras-Suarez was arrested on February 11, 2025, following a report from a victim about an assault occurring at a mall near Thomas Jefferson Park. He was apprehended the next day.

Tricia McLaughlin, the former assistant secretary of Homeland Security, criticized the Biden administration for allowing Contreras-Suarez into the country without restrictions.

“These creeps should never have been released into our country,” she stated last July.

“Due to failed sanctuary and open border policies, this repeat offender has been able to prey on innocent American children, but that ends now,” McLaughlin added. “ICE will not permit predators like Contreras-Suarez to terrorize the American public.”

ICE has formally requested to detain Contreras-Suarez and hopes for cooperation from city officials to facilitate his arrest upon release.

However, such collaboration is not guaranteed, given that both New York City and State have policies intended to hinder immigration enforcement, and officials may protect the offender from arrest and deportation.

Critics have expressed their disapproval of the lenient sentencing by New York prosecutors for this serious crime.

Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles expressed his frustration on social media, stating he was “beyond angry” about the verdict.

Popular TikTok user Libs voiced criticism of the flawed legal system, insisting, “This foreign child rapist should be immediately deported. Don’t let him back on the streets.”

Elon Musk simply remarked, “Execute.”
