Trump Administration Files Criminal Referral Against Letitia James
Recent developments indicate that the Trump administration has submitted a new criminal referral to the Justice Department concerning New York Attorney General Letitia James.
This referral, initiated by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, raises concerns regarding alleged insurance fraud linked to James’s properties. Reports suggest this has been sent to U.S. attorneys in both Florida and Illinois for their assessment.
A spokesperson from the Justice Department confirmed receipt of the referral by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Among the allegations mentioned in the referrals is “suspected homeowners insurance fraud.”
Interestingly, a watchdog group has recently challenged Letitia James with a bar complaint, especially after a federal judge dismissed previous bank fraud charges against her late last year. Additionally, a Virginia grand jury opted against indicting her during a subsequent session.
The previous charges against James and former FBI Director James Comey were struck down by a judge who noted that they stemmed from unqualified U.S. attorneys, rendering them unfair.
Pulte, in one of the referrals, expressed that James may have provided false information on homeowners insurance applications for Universal Property Insurance, located in Fort Lauderdale.
This claim seems to stem from a social media post by Mike Davis, an attorney closely aligned with President Donald Trump. According to Pruitt’s comments, James allegedly misrepresented that her property would be vacant for five months annually.
However, according to Davis’s post, Pulte contends that the house was in fact occupied year-round by her niece.
FOX News Digital has reached out for comments from both James’s office and her attorney.
