New Policy by Rep. Moulton on Prediction Markets

Representative Seth Moulton, a Democrat from Massachusetts, has rolled out a new policy aimed at preventing his staff from engaging in prediction markets tied to political matters or any information they might access through their official roles.

According to a statement, Moulton has become the first member of Congress to implement an office-wide ban on his staff’s participation in platforms like Polymarket and Calci. These platforms allow users to wager on potential outcomes related to politics, legislation, regulations, and global events.

“Prediction markets have turned into a landscape for corrupt insiders who gamble on election results, wars, and even the passing of public figures. This generates a dangerous incentive structure that threatens our society,” Moulton remarked.

He emphasized that congressional staff are there to serve constituents, not to profit from policy decisions or global events. Moulton asserted, “My office has never engaged in such activities and will continue to uphold ethical standards that reflect clean government practices.”

He also called for other elected officials to adhere to similar principles of integrity.

Moulton has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives since early 2015 and is currently challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Ed Markey in the upcoming primary.
