Trump Takes Aim at Kimmel
President Donald Trump has once again targeted Jimmy Kimmel, labeling the comedian a “loser” and suggesting he “should be canned” after Kimmel’s recent on-air jabs.
During a call to Fox News’ “The Five” on Thursday, Trump criticized Kimmel’s monologue in which he mocked the new Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin.
“I’ve seen this guy. He’s a loser. He doesn’t get any recognition. He has nothing. He has no talent. He has Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Trump commented. “Every time I watch it, I can’t believe he’s still on the air. He really shouldn’t be.”
Continuing, the President praised Mullin, a former plumber and mixed martial artist who is now an Oklahoma state senator, pushing back against criticism of his non-traditional background. “As you know, he was very successful,” Trump said. “He took a small company from his parents and turned it into something great. He made money. Plus, he was a really good fighter. He never knew about low-level MMA.”
Trump mentioned Mullin’s impressive fighting record and described some of his past opponents as “rough cookies,” insisting that his experience indicates that he’s “some kind of fighter.”
“I call him a country smartass,” Trump added, “He’s a very smart guy. People really like him, and I believe he’ll do a fantastic job.”
The President’s remarks followed Kimmel’s criticism of Mullin just two days earlier during a March 24 monologue, where he sarcastically remarked about having “plumbers who will protect us from terrorism,” jokingly comparing Mullin to Super Mario. He also suggested that rapper Lil Wayne could have been a better pick for the position than previous Secretary Kristi Noem, adding, “At least they could have had a concert.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has expressed disdain for Kimmel. In November, Kimmel responded to Trump’s attacks, saying, “Honestly, I’ve lost count of how many times the president has wanted me off the air. I mean, talk about snowflakes; this guy flips out every few weeks.”
In September 2025, Kimmel’s show was suspended “indefinitely” after he made controversial comments regarding an assassination, taking a week off before returning to the screen.
