Home Invasion Incident in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania State Police reported that officers were called to the intersection of 18th and Water streets in Brownsville Borough, located in Fayette County, late Tuesday evening due to a disturbance.
Investigators suggested that the suspect broke a window and entered a woman’s bedroom after she heard noises at the door. The break-in occurred around 11:30 p.m., possibly involving bricks to shatter the glass.
Authorities indicated that the man did not leave when confronted and advanced towards the woman, prompting her to shoot him in the leg. As he continued toward her, she shot him again, this time in the side of the head.
Following the gunshots, a struggle ensued between the suspect and the woman. Fortunately, she managed to escape the home just as police arrived.
State police mentioned that the Castle Doctrine, which justifies the use of deadly force for self-defense in one’s own home, applies in this situation.
Upon arrival, officers found the man with multiple gunshot wounds and he was airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh for urgent surgery. His condition has not been disclosed.
Ronald Rosiek, 69, faces several serious charges including aggravated assault, trespassing, and robbery, according to court documents.
The victim’s brother expressed concerns about his sister’s safety, thinking something had happened to her instead. But after the police assured him, he reflected on the situation, saying, “I thought it was her,” and was relieved to learn she was the one who defended herself.
Investigators are encouraging anyone with additional information regarding the incident to reach out to the Belle Vernon Barracks Police Department.
