Tiger Woods’ Upcoming Tournament Status Uncertain
It seems Tiger Woods won’t be in the running for his sixth green jacket next month. This revelation surfaced when President Donald Trump mentioned during a call-in on Fox News’ “The Five” that the 15-time major champion was slated to play in this year’s Masters at Augusta National, but won’t actually compete.
Trump remarked, “I love Tiger, but he won’t be there. He’ll be there, but he won’t play.” This comment adds to the uncertainty surrounding Woods’ participation.
Interestingly, Woods, who is 50, is dating Vanessa Trump, the ex-daughter-in-law of President Trump. They share five children from her previous marriage to Donald Trump Jr., with whom she was married from 2005 until 2018.
Woods has been facing health challenges, having undergone lumbar disc replacement surgery last October, in addition to surgery for a torn left Achilles tendon last March.
Despite these setbacks, he recently made his return to golf at the TGL Finals held in Palm Beach. Woods expressed his desire to play in the Masters but admitted he’s uncertain about when he will make that decision. “I’ve been working hard, but this body isn’t going to recover like it did when I was 24 or 25,” he shared, reflecting on his injuries over the last few years and how they’ve impacted his game.
“I keep trying. I want to play. I love tournaments,” he continued, emphasizing the significance of competitive golf not just for himself but for his family too. He plans to attend the Champions Dinner and “The Loop” at the tournament, even if he doesn’t compete.
Woods hasn’t participated in a regular tournament since the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon, stating, “This week I will practice playing at home and continue to strive for progress.” His team at Jupiter Links Golf Club lost to Los Angeles Golf Club in the TGL Finals.
On a side note, Vanessa and their daughter, Kai, have been noted as rising amateur golfers, with Kai recently committing to the University of Miami golf team. They were seen enthusiastically supporting Woods during the tournament, even sharing affectionate moments together on the course.
Woods previously made headlines last March with an Instagram post showcasing his support for Trump, further intertwining their public personas.
