New Series Focusing on Moses Announced
The creators of the popular series House of David recently shared news of a new production that highlights another well-known Biblical figure. They released a trailer for Folktale: Moses, which is being branded as a three-part “companion” series.
This series features Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley, known for his roles in films like Gandhi and Schindler’s List. He is joined by Emmy-nominated OT Fagbenru, who will portray a pharaoh.
The show will premiere on Prime Video’s platform called Wonder Project this upcoming spring. Jon Irwin, the creator of House of David, is taking on the roles of director, writer, and executive producer for this new series.
Irwin commented on the significance of Moses, stating, “Moses is one of the most iconic figures in history, and his story continues to resonate with us today. We set out to tell Folktale: Moses with a cinematic awe and scale that feels both grand and personal. I’m especially proud of the cast’s performance and can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
Other cast members include Rui Ferreira as Jesse, Anna Carja as Zipporah, and Radha Ray as Ava. The trailer begins with an older Moses discussing how he heard God’s voice from a burning bush, saying, “God told me I must return to Egypt, to the place where I was born, to where my people were enslaved.”
Following this, viewers see Moses confronting the Pharaoh, asserting, “I have come in God’s place… If you disobey God, you will suffer a fate worse than theirs.” The Pharaoh responds defiantly, stating, “I will never let your people go.”
The trailer concludes with a powerful image of Moses, staff in hand, standing before a sea that dramatically parts to reveal a path.
Jon Gunn and Justin Rosenblatt are the executive producers, while Gavin J. Bearman serves as a co-executive producer, and Adam Abel is listed as the producer.
