Chase DeLauter Impresses in MLB Debut

In a standout performance during his regular season debut, Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter made a significant impact in Cleveland’s 6-4 victory over the Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Thursday.

When DeLauter belted his first career home run in the opening inning, putting Cleveland ahead 1-0, the excitement from his family and girlfriend, Isabella Fitzwater, was palpable. They were practically on the edge of their seats, waiting to see if the umpire would confirm the hit.

The broadcast captured the moment perfectly, showcasing his family’s anticipation as they awaited the umpire’s call. Once the signal was given, they erupted in cheers.

At just 24, DeLauter made history as the first player in Cleveland’s franchise to record three hits and hit two home runs in his debut, a remarkable feat.

Additional celebrations came when the family cheered again during the Guardians’ second home run in the ninth inning, solidifying their lead over Seattle.

DeLauter’s accomplishment placed him among elite company, becoming only the seventh player in MLB history to hit two home runs in his first game, a rarity not seen since Trevor Story back in 2016.

His girlfriend took to Instagram to express her pride, writing, “Opening day home run!!!” and sharing her amazement with emotional emojis alongside a photo of DeLauter’s name on the scoreboard. After his second home run, she added, “Are we serious, @chasedelauter, I’m the best person to love you.”

According to reports, his father, stepfather, mother, brother, best friend, and even his best friend’s mother were in attendance to witness the history being made.

His father, Jason, reflected on the moment, sharing that he had flown in from West Virginia and hadn’t been on a plane in quite some time. He expressed disbelief at the entire experience, stating, “I can’t believe it. He just worked. He kept working. None of that was guaranteed.”

Looking ahead, the Guardians are scheduled to face the Mariners again on Friday night at T-Mobile Park.
