Rioters Arrested at “No Kings” Rally in Los Angeles
On Saturday, a chaotic “No Kings” rally in downtown Los Angeles led to the arrest of dozens of rioters, including an individual armed with a dagger. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, 75 people were taken into custody following the protests.
The gathering took place outside the Metropolitan Detention Center, where a number of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees were present. Tensions escalated around 5:28 p.m. when protesters clashed with DHS and LAPD officers.
Authorities reported that rioters hurled various objects at police, including rocks, bottles, and cement blocks. Two federal employees sustained injuries from these attacks and needed medical care.
Around 200 protesters assembled, shouting insults at officers and violently shaking the metal gates meant to secure the area.
Of those arrested, eight were juveniles.
Footage from the event captured protesters waving Palestinian and other national flags while throwing objects at DHS officials. As the chaos grew, DHS officers deployed tear gas, and LAPD riot officers arrived to regain control, leading to more arrests and disruption in the street.
One standout moment involved a woman dressed as the Statue of Liberty in chains, who was taken into custody while smiling. The sight reportedly amused the LAPD officers at the scene, and since then, a photo of her has gained significant attention online.
The woman, who describes herself on social media as “just trying to survive late capitalism,” criticized various elected officials, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, for creating barriers to control crowds, suggesting they were more about control than safety.
In her posts, she also commented on Erica Kirk’s appointment to the Air Force Academy Board, questioning her lack of experience.
The woman has a significant following on social media, with thousands of people keeping track of her rants and insights.
Meanwhile, Doug Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ husband, was spotted at a “No Kings” rally in Malibu, mingling with celebrities. This appearance comes amid a backdrop of controversy surrounding Harris and disputes over her use of taxpayer-funded security during promotional events for her memoir.
Griffin also participated in the Malibu rally, praising the large turnout and promoting progressive views, while holding a sign critical of ICE.
The “No Kings” movement, which the organizers claim was the largest single-day nonviolent protest in American history, saw approximately 8 million people participating in over 3,300 rallies across the nation, where demonstrators expressed their dissatisfaction with President Trump, rising living costs, and the ongoing war with Iran.
Notably, some counter-protesters took to the streets as well, leading to tensions in places such as Dallas, where police had to keep groups apart during the demonstrations.
