Kid Rock Faces Backlash for Helicopter Video
Kid Rock, the famous rock musician and a supporter of Donald Trump, is under scrutiny after sharing a video on social media this past weekend. While some on social media enjoyed the footage, the U.S. military has decided to look into it.
On Saturday, Rock uploaded a video filmed at a lavish Tennessee mansion often referred to as the “White House of the South.” In the clip, he stands at the pool’s edge, saluting military personnel in a helicopter that hovers nearby.
He captioned the video with what seemed to be a jab at California’s governor, stating, “This is a cerebral level of respect that the Governor of California will never know. God bless America and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect her.”
Though many fans commented positively about his display of patriotism, others—including military officials—expressed concerns about the stunt.
Maj. Jonathon Brace of the 101st Airborne Division confirmed in a statement that leadership at Fort Campbell is aware of the video showing an AH-64 Apache helicopter near Rock’s residence. An investigation has been initiated to assess the situation.
Locke, who appeared in the video with Rock, defended the helicopter’s crew, suggesting they were simply enjoying themselves. In an interview, he commented, “I think they’re fine. My buddy is the Commander-in-Chief. I mean, what are they looking at? How many seconds were they down? I don’t know? A minute? They were probably here for three or four minutes,” he chuckled.
Earlier that day, it was reported that Apache helicopters also flew over protests in Nashville, leading Locke to remark that those who dismiss military presence are “on the wrong side of things.”
The U.S. Army later issued a statement emphasizing that “Military aviators must adhere to strict safety standards, professionalism, and established flight regulations.” They noted that an administrative review would confirm if all regulations were followed and take necessary action if any violations are discovered.
