Disneyland Closes Popular Attractions as Spring Break Arrives
This week, Disneyland has temporarily closed some of its most beloved attractions, just as visitors flock to the park for spring break. The monorail, a staple since 1959 and California’s first daily monorail, halted operations as of Monday, according to the official renovation calendar.
The monorail has been a favorite for its stunning views and quick connections between Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney. It was initially created to showcase Walt Disney’s futuristic vision for transportation.
Alongside the monorail, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin also ceased operations on Monday. At this point, Disneyland hasn’t provided a reopening timeline for this attraction.
Several other popular rides remain closed as well. Over at Disney California Adventure, Grizzly River Run has been out of commission since January for seasonal renovations, and Jumpin’ Jellyfish is currently not operational. In Disneyland Park, the classic Jungle Cruise has been closed since February 17.
In total, at least five significant attractions across both parks are not available to guests. There’s also the ongoing food and wine festival at Disney California Adventure, running until April 27, which draws in visitors for its limited-time offerings. Disney insists that the closures are part of regular maintenance and are unrelated to the festival.
Anaheim’s theme parks frequently cycle through attractions for seasonal renovations. This is, perhaps, their strategy to keep everything in great shape, even if the timing coincides with busy periods.
