Lucky Diner Delivers Another Powerball Winner

A diner in Massachusetts, famous for its lucky lottery streak, has produced yet another substantial winner.

Last week, the Massachusetts Lottery revealed that a Powerball ticket worth $2 million was sold at the Old South Diner in Nantucket. This marks the fifth $1 million prize linked to that diner in just two years.

The ticket was purchased by Mary Haley, a longtime resident of Nantucket, according to local reports.

“It’s fantastic to see someone local win,” Haley shared.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 7, 21, 55, 56, 64, with the Powerball being 26 and Power Play at 4x.

The Old South Diner has become quite the hotspot for lottery players on the island. Reportedly, Massachusetts ranks among the top 10% of states for lottery retailer performance.

Since this winning streak kicked off in March 2024, sales at the diner have surged by 37%, giving it a more prominent share of the local market.

This run of luck began with a $1 million scratch ticket sold in March 2024, followed by a $2 million winner in June and another $1 million prize in August of the same year.

The Massachusetts Lottery’s assistant director of communications, Rachel Guerra, noted that “the more tickets a store sells, the more likely there will be a big winner.”
