Concerns About Microsoft’s Influence and Policies
Joe Grogan, who previously directed the Trump Domestic Policy Council, shared his views with Breitbart News, alleging that Microsoft has undermined the MAGA movement while supporting left-leaning initiatives. He accused the tech giant of collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party and claimed it has become deeply integrated into U.S. government operations.
According to Grogan, Microsoft’s actions include sharing source code with China, contributing to Chinese military academic programs, and maintaining extensive research facilities within China. He expressed that federal officials felt compelled to work with Microsoft due to its entrenched position.
“While doing all this, they’ve marginalized conservative voices and bolstered leftist agendas. They’ve allied with radicals in Europe, actively working against the MAGA principles that reflect the will of the American people,” Grogan remarked. He also pointed to numerous issues surrounding Microsoft, such as perceived anti-conservative bias and its close ties to China.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has intensified its investigation into Microsoft, focusing on whether the company has unlawfully monopolized significant segments of the enterprise computing sector through its cloud and AI products, including Copilot.
Concerns about Microsoft’s alleged anti-conservative attitudes include:
- Microsoft CTO Kevin Scott hosted a fundraiser for Delaware Democrat Sarah McBride.
- The Fair Elections Fund has initiated a campaign criticizing Microsoft for suppressing free speech and interfering in U.S. elections.
- Microsoft has partnered with organizations that reportedly blacklist right-leaning news outlets.
- Florida Attorney General James Usmayer criticized Microsoft for its denial of access to discount programs for Christian nonprofit organizations.
- In January 2025, Microsoft defended its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies, which some other tech firms have avoided.
LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman was recently removed from Microsoft’s board despite his known connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
Advisor to former President Trump, Alex Brucewicz, questioned Microsoft’s affiliations, urging Democratic donors to return the money received from Hoffman’s connections.
In a February statement, Bill Gates admitted to making mistakes regarding his relationship with Epstein, emphasizing that he believed he had not acted illegally and had avoided any misconduct associated with Epstein’s associates.
Concerns regarding Microsoft’s cloud services were amplified when federal cybersecurity evaluators rated one of its major products poorly due to incomplete documentation. A government report expressed skepticism about the security of Microsoft’s Government Community Cloud High due to insufficient details from the company.
A report indicated that federal reviewers were unable to verify the security integrity of Microsoft’s product because of years of inadequate documentation, describing the situation as troubling.
In July 2025, Microsoft stated it would revise its practices to prevent engineers based in China from providing support for U.S. defense operations. The company has faced allegations of employing engineers from nations seen as rivals to the U.S.
Grogan concluded by urging Washington leaders and Americans to critically reassess Microsoft’s role and influence in the current landscape.
