Stephen A. Smith Reflects on Voting for Kamala Harris

In a recent episode of “The Sage Steele Show,” Stephen A. Smith expressed regret over his decision to vote for former Vice President Kamala Harris. He shared with Steele that he initially thought Harris could foster bipartisan cooperation but feels that Democrats still haven’t grasped the reasons behind their electoral losses.

During the discussion, Steele reminded Smith of his earlier comments on Dave Rubin’s show regarding his vote for Harris in the context of the upcoming 2024 election. When asked if he regretted that vote, Smith confirmed it with a simple “Yes.”

Smith explained that he was drawn to Harris because he believed she could engage with opposition parties. However, as he observed the Democrats’ detachment following their electoral defeats, he became disillusioned. “There’s no hope,” he remarked, highlighting his disappointment that Democrats seem unaware of their shortcomings.

Throughout the conversation, Smith emphasized his belief in a functional government, expressing a clear preference for a divided government over one-party rule. He argued that this balance is essential for effective governance, allowing for a dynamic where different parties can collaborate. He stated, “I just don’t understand what I was thinking, believing you’d all get it.”

He further characterized Harris as capable of achieving Congressional consensus, contrasting her with former President Donald Trump, whom he described as powerful yet difficult to manage. Smith commented on the political environment, suggesting that a different Republican candidate might have swayed his voting choice. “If Marco Rubio had been there, I would have voted for him right away,” he noted, indicating no hesitation in backing Nikki Haley either.

When Steele questioned his critical views on Democrats post-election despite voting for Harris, Smith pointed to President Biden’s previous statements about needing new leadership. “That was me saying we need a new president,” he responded. He acknowledged the complex feelings tied to representing the “black community” and his family, agreeing that such connections are significant and human.

As of now, Fox News Digital has reached out to Harris for her response, but no immediate comment has been received.
