4,500 Students Come Together at Florida State to Praise Jesus: ‘This Is What Desire Looks Like’

Florida State University Hosts Unite US Event

On Tuesday night, hundreds of college students filled Florida State University, coming together to sing and celebrate their faith. This was part of a broader spiritual movement gaining traction on various campuses across the United States.

The gathering attracted around 4,500 attendees at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee. Many individuals made personal decisions for Christ, and 81 were baptized, some of whom had previously participated two years ago and now hold leadership roles. The musical worship was led by Elevation Rhythm.

Unite US, a movement that originated at Auburn University in 2023, has rapidly expanded, connecting with over 50,000 students through various campus events.

The official Instagram page of Unite US shares the sentiment, stating, “This is what starvation looks like. This is what surrender looks like. This is what happens when students feel free to lift up the name of Jesus.”

Former Florida State football stars, including 2023 ACC Player of the Year Jordan Travis and Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward from 1993, contributed to a video invitation shared across social media.

National attention has been drawn to the Unite US movement, highlighted by a recent visit from fox & friends to a past event, which also witnessed large crowds at the University of Pittsburgh. Students at that event were even baptized in a pickup truck.

One student shared, “Jesus changed my life,” while another from Pitt expressed, “There are a lot of young people who are lost, confused and devastated. Fill that gap with the Holy Spirit and you will experience true peace. I testify to that.”

Tonya Prewett, a visionary behind Unite US, emphasized that the movement is spreading a “message of hope” to students nationwide.

Looking ahead, upcoming Unite US events are scheduled for Sanford on April 8 and Oklahoma State University on April 28. There’s also a high school Unite US event planned for Columbus, Ohio, though the date remains to be confirmed.
