NBA Player Jaden Ivey’s Wife Responds to Abandonment Claims
The wife of NBA athlete Jaden Ivey is addressing rumors that she “dumped” him after he was released from the team. These rumors follow Ivey’s controversial remarks regarding Pride Month, which stemmed from his Christian beliefs.
Caitlin Ivey, a mother of two with Jaden, shared her thoughts via Instagram Story on Wednesday. She was responding to social media comments suggesting she had “abandoned” him.
“I received these DMs (and many more) over a single lie about my name,” she said. “Those who know me know that I have never abandoned that man through all my trials…and I still haven’t. There’s obviously a lot more going on, so perhaps it’s best to leave the speculation to yourself.”
In a livestream, Jaden claimed Caitlin had been silent during his broadcast following the fallout from his comments. He expressed feelings of betrayal from those close to him, mentioning his family’s concern over his well-being.
“The people around me, the people in my family, they’re betraying me by what I’ve said. They say I’m losing my mind. It’s true. They say I’m crazy,” he stated. “So, even though my wife is here, I haven’t received any emails from her.”
The Bulls released Ivey, citing “conduct detrimental to the team” related to his comments during Pride Month.
In his Instagram Live posts, he rejected the idea that his actions could be deemed harmful to the team, claiming, “They’re liars. This is a lie… I preach Jesus Christ, but they abandoned me.” He argued that his faith led him to speak out and didn’t contribute to his firing.
He also detailed personal struggles, including overcoming an addiction and how religion has played a role in his life. His remarks suggested he felt disconnected from other successful players in the league regarding their beliefs.
“They capture players like Stephen Curry… I pray for him and his family to come to the truth.” Ivey argued that past achievements mean little without faith, stating that these players may find themselves in jeopardy on Judgment Day if they don’t know Jesus.
His video, posted on Monday, criticized the NBA for recognizing Pride Month, framing it as an “injustice.” He questioned why society can openly celebrate such events while others are silenced.
He voiced skepticism about certain religious beliefs, calling Catholicism a “false religion” and expressing concern for his mother.
Ivey was originally drafted fifth overall by the Pistons in 2022 and had shown promise in his early career, averaging significant points before experiencing a decline this season.
He was recently traded to the Bulls, where he played only four games before being released, averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
