Tragic Incident in California Involves Released Illegal Aliens

The Department of Homeland Security has reported that local officials in California overlooked federal immigration detainer requests before two illegal immigrants allegedly committed a murder.

Kenberry Chirinos-Flores, a 24-year-old single mother, was found fatally shot in her vehicle in Sunnyvale on January 7. Sadly, she left behind a 5-year-old son.

“It’s heartbreaking to think these illegal aliens were able to commit such a shocking crime and were released back into society,” someone might say.

In March, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety announced that two illegal immigrants, identified as Frankin Inestroza-Martinez and Guerzon Jose Chirinos-Mungia, had been arrested in connection with her murder.

Authorities allegedly recovered a shotgun, believed to be the weapon used in the crime. On Monday, DHS criticized the “sanctuary politicians” in Santa Clara County for allowing the release of both suspects despite ICE’s requests for their detention.

“Rather than working with ICE, local politicians have failed to respect the process of immigration detainees, neglecting to alert ICE when these potentially dangerous individuals are set free,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Biss. “This madness must be addressed.”

Inestroza-Martinez unlawfully entered the U.S. in 2013, was arrested, and subsequently deported. He is originally from Honduras. He was caught again in 2018 for illegal entry, leading to another deportation. It remains uncertain when he entered the U.S. for a third time.

Inestoza-Martinez also had an arrest warrant related to the murder of a man in New Jersey back in 2025.

Chirinos-Mungia, who also hails from Honduras, faced similar circumstances. He was deported after being caught while trying to enter the U.S. in 2015. His records reveal issues as well. In 2018, he was arrested for assault, followed by domestic violence charges in 2019.

Despite being detained, he was released and is believed to have murdered Chirinos-Flores afterward.

“A man lost his life, and a child is now without a mother. Such violent actions should never have occurred, and these individuals shouldn’t have been granted freedom in our communities,” Biss added.

The young boy is currently under the care of Child Protective Services after his father was taken into custody for the alleged murder of his mother.

DHS concluded that their law enforcement efforts aim to safeguard American communities from tragedies like this.
