U.S. Farmers Contribute 6 Million Eggs for Easter and Passover: 'Proud to Give Back'

Efforts to Provide Nutritious Eggs for Easter and Passover

Across the United States, initiatives are underway to ensure that American families have access to nutritious eggs for the upcoming Easter and Passover holidays.

Recently, more than 97,000 eggs were donated by Dutt and Wagner to organizations like Feed More and Green Valley Poultry Farm in Virginia. This is just one part of their broader plan to help those in need.

Aaron McClung, Chief Development Officer at Feed More, shared, “Many families here lack the resources they need, so they often rent a space just to come together for an Easter egg hunt or enjoy a nice breakfast. We might not think twice about these things, but thanks to the generous support from farmers across Virginia, this donation will significantly impact those struggling.”

The Incredible Egg website highlights the Great American Egg Drive, an initiative from the American Egg Board. It reports that over 6,332,800 eggs have been donated to support various communities.

According to the site, “As local members of the community, egg farmers proudly give back and share a food that plays a crucial role in many spring celebrations. This year’s Egg Drive is expanding through a partnership with HATCH, a nonprofit focused on connecting farms to food banks and providing fresh protein to those who need it.”

Meanwhile, in Houston, the food bank received over 97,000 eggs from Cal-Maine Foods, while Philabundance in Pennsylvania was gifted 72,000 eggs from Sauder’s Eggs. Additionally, Cal-Maine has partnered with farmers in Ohio to contribute more than 300,000 eggs, along with donating over 280,000 to those in need in North Carolina.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins emphasized the nutritional value of eggs, calling them “one of the most nutritious foods God has given us.” She noted that eggs are rich in high-quality protein, healthy fats, vitamin D, choline, and essential nutrients that are vital for growing children.

Incredible Eggs expressed pride in supporting initiatives that align with Mr. Rollins’ vision for improving food access and nutrition.

Interestingly, this news comes amidst a significant drop in egg prices, which have reportedly fallen by 80 percent compared to last year.
