“Super Mario Galaxy Movie” Trailer

Universal and Illumination have released a trailer for the “Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” featuring Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Brie Larson.

In this new adventure, two favorite plumbers, Mario and Luigi, are back. Following the events of the previous film in 2023, they continue their plumbing duties in the Mushroom Kingdom. Princess Peach remains in her royal role, while Bowser, still small from the mini-mushrooms, is kept like a toy in his castle.

Meanwhile, in another part of the universe, Bowser Jr. has plans to kidnap Princess Rosalina, a strong character from the 2007 game, with intentions to harness her powers to build a superweapon and help his dad escape.

Fan favorites come along for the ride, as familiar faces like Toad return, alongside with the new and playful Yoshi.

Most people, particularly those under 50, likely have fond memories of Nintendo and the Mario series, which has delighted countless players for decades. The creative team, including co-directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and screenwriter Matthew Fogel, all seem to channel their love for the franchise, ensuring that the essence of Mario shines through the 100-minute runtime.

Interestingly, there’s still a wealth of material that could be explored in future projects. If things go well, Universal and Illumination might establish a leading presence in Nintendo’s cinematic universe.

Like its gaming counterpart, the “Super Mario Galaxy Movie” proves to be a joyful experience. Jack Black delivers some of the most humorous moments as Bowser, while Donald Glover’s portrayal of Yoshi adds to the charm.

The animation is vibrant, pulling viewers into the beloved Mario universe, complemented by a score from Brian Tyler that includes iconic tunes from the games.

And for those who really love Mario, there are two post-credits scenes worth seeing—one offers a fun nod to the past, while the other hints at a potential sequel.

verdict

As a long-time Super Mario fan, I can’t help but smile. While it may not break new ground, “Super Mario Galaxy Movie” brings joy to both children and nostalgic parents. It not only improves upon its predecessor but also sets the stage for more adventures ahead, and I’m eagerly waiting for what’s next.
