Fitness Influencer Jillian Michaels Claims 'True Sociopath' Gavin Newsom is Responsible for California's Decline

Jillian Michaels Criticizes Gavin Newsom’s Leadership

Celebrity fitness coach Jillian Michaels has not held back on her views regarding California Governor Gavin Newsom, labeling him a “true sociopath” who is failing the state. In her opinion, he’s just another politician who tries to please everyone.

“California is the most expensive state to live in,” Michaels expressed. “With the highest gas prices and income taxes, people are paying for the best housing and rents, yet they’re getting nothing in return.” She has firsthand experience, having left California in 2021.

Michaels further accused Governor Newsom of inconsistency, stating, “He’ll meet with Ben Shapiro and claim that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) isn’t the Gestapo, then he goes to the World Economic Forum and says the opposite.” This behavior, she says, only highlights his lack of authenticity.

She did not shy away from expressing her anger over last year’s wildfires in Los Angeles. She was particularly critical of Newsom’s veto of a bill in October that aimed to improve wildfire prevention through updated forest management techniques. “Billions of dollars are either missing or poorly managed,” she pointed out. “The state constantly faces these fires, yet it’s manageable. However, everything is being mishandled, and the solutions are clear.” She added, “Vetoing the forest management bill was a mistake.”

Michaels also took issue with Newsom for allowing the purchase of California land by foreign entities, recalling his veto in 2022 of a bill that would have restricted such transactions. “In my view, he’s more corrupt than any mayor or governor I’ve encountered,” she stated. Reflecting on Newsom’s time as mayor of San Francisco, she noted that the processes seem manipulated to serve specific interests.

Now residing in Wyoming with her family, Michaels identifies as center-right and voted for Donald Trump in 2024, describing it as the “lesser evil.” The state of left-wing politics in California, she commented, is “out of control,” warning that issues like homelessness are mounting: “Billions are lost or mismanaged.”

Lastly, she expressed support for changes in U.S. nutrition policy proposed by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “Changing the food pyramid isn’t about dictating diets. It’s more about adjusting subsidies,” she noted, referring to Kennedy Jr.’s plan to cut federal support for junk food and sugary drinks.
