Bellinger’s Exciting Two-Day Stretch

Cody Bellinger has had quite the eventful couple of days.

It all kicked off with a stunning catch in left field during Friday’s game, where he managed to snag a falling ball that had already touched ground.

This action continued into Saturday’s 9-7 victory, where Bellinger first participated in a mishap that cost the Yankees a run but later redeemed himself with a home run that turned the tide for the team.

He capped off the day with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

This marked Bellinger’s first home run of the season, ultimately sparking a comeback from a four-run deficit.

“It gave us the spark we needed,” Giancarlo Stanton mentioned. “After that, people started to get on base.”

However, prior to this, there was a rather improbable blunder.

While already up 3-0, Paul Blackburn took over for an ineffective Ryan Weathers, and Agustin Ramirez managed to reach third base thanks to a two-out infield hit.

Jacob Marsee followed with a soft single to shallow left from Blackburn, which led to some unexpected drama.

Jose Caballero and Ryan McMahon chased the ball, but it landed just in front of Bellinger.

With no one covering third, Ramirez dashed toward the bag as McMahon scrambled to retrieve the ball. Unfortunately, McMahon missed Bellinger’s throw, which sailed into foul territory.

This allowed Ramirez to score and extended Miami’s lead by four runs, pushing Marsee to second.

“It was a strange play with a shift on,” Bellinger reflected. “I had to cover a long distance to third, but my throw went awry.”

Luckily, Blackburn managed to escape further trouble by getting Otto Lopez out.

This blunder was an unusual occurrence for the Yankees, who had started the season with solid fundamentals.

Then Bellinger ramped up the action.

The Yankees had only one hit against Miami’s righty Max Meyer until Aaron Judge doubled in the fifth inning.

Shortly after, Bellinger launched a shot to right center, closing the gap to 4-2 and knocking Meyer out of the game.

“Meyer was pitching well, but then we got a break when he got hit in the arm, which got us right back in it,” manager Aaron Boone commented.

From that point on, the Yankees took advantage of Miami’s bullpen and clinched more wins.
