Mike Trout's X-rays come back negative after being hit by a pitch, Angels classify him as day-to-day

Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout was ejected during Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Mariners after taking a pitch to his body, causing some worry among fans about his availability for future games.

However, there’s a sigh of relief for both Trout and Angels supporters. Manager Kurt Suzuki shared after the game that Trout’s X-rays came back negative, and he intends to resume his normal routine. Trout himself felt anxious about a possible wrist injury due to swelling, but was ultimately “relieved” to find out it wasn’t a fracture.

Frustration was evident in Trout’s comments directed at Mariners pitcher Casey Legumina, who threw a fastball clocked at 94 mph that struck him. Once before in the series, Trout had been hit by a pitch from Brian Wu. Trout noted that Seattle’s pitchers need better control, especially when targeting inside corners.

“It’s just frustrating because I know where they’re going to throw fastballs and try to get me out,” Trout expressed. “You know, if you can’t control it there, you shouldn’t do it. So that’s what it is.”

Meanwhile, Suzuki downplayed any notion of rising tensions between the teams. “The ball slides,” the rookie coach remarked. “This is baseball. I don’t want to see Mike get hurt, but as a former catcher, I understand the dynamics of trying to get players out.”

The Angels ultimately clinched an 8-7 victory after 11 innings. Trout, who has faced ongoing injury issues since 2021, has only played over 100 games in two of the subsequent seasons, managing to play more than 130 games last season.

This season, over ten games, Trout is batting .212 with two home runs and three RBIs.
