UCLA Women’s Basketball Team Celebrates Championship with Dance
The UCLA women’s basketball team made a splash with their impressive 79-51 win over South Carolina in the national championship, garnering attention from pop sensation Tate McRae.
After the game, some Bruins celebrated their victory with a synchronized dance to McRae’s popular song “Just Keep Watching.” The 22-year-old artist confirmed she was watching the performance from the sidelines.
On her Instagram Stories the following day, McRae posted videos showcasing the choreography by Charlisse Leger-Walker, Lauren Betts, and Gabriella Jacques, expressing her admiration for their moves.
She shared her excitement, saying, “Hahaha I love this,” along with her congratulations to the women’s team. McRae added a playful emoji and tagged the dancers in her post.
The trio had initially showcased their dance routine during a UCLA men’s basketball game versus Nebraska on March 3, captivating the audience with their precision and energy.
Throughout March, after each NCAA Tournament victory, they continued to perform this dance. Head coach Cori Close even encouraged her team to embrace the joy of dancing as part of their journey.
“I think at any level, whether you’re in the WNBA Finals or in the Final Four competing for a national championship, there’s still room for both (joy and nerves),” she commented. “And I hope we never lose sight of the fact that this is supposed to be a really fun, life-changing experience.”
