Bill Gates to Testify Before House Oversight Committee
Bill Gates is set to appear before the House Oversight Committee as part of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, following in the footsteps of several notable individuals who have already given their testimonies. This includes former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and billionaire Les Wexner.
The Microsoft co-founder has his interview scheduled for June 10, based on information from a source familiar with the arrangements.
Documents released by the Department of Justice in February revealed disturbing claims made by Epstein in a 2013 email. In this correspondence, Epstein alleged that Gates had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from a young Russian woman and sought to secretly give antibiotics to his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.
Reports indicate that this email was directed only to Epstein but seemed to reflect a memo intended for Gates’ long-standing advisor, Boris Nikolic.
Additionally, a 2017 email disclosed in early 2023 revealed that Epstein reportedly threatened to expose Gates’ alleged affair with Russian bridge player Mila Antonova, possibly linked to Gates’ reluctance to engage with a philanthropic foundation set up by him.
One message from someone believed to be Gates’ advisor to Epstein conveyed that while Gates was interested in discussing a proposal, his wife didn’t want him to have contact with Epstein.
In subsequent messages, the advisor noted, “He would like to talk to you, but his wife won’t let him,” later expressing affection on Gates’ behalf and noting a good idea that Gates had, which his wife opposed.
Gates reportedly acknowledged to Foundation officials in February that his relationship with Epstein existed from 2011 to 2014. He mentioned connections with a Russian bridge player he met through an event and a Russian nuclear physicist he encountered during business dealings.
A spokesperson for Gates stated that these allegations are “completely absurd and completely false,” emphasizing that the documents merely reveal Epstein’s desire to sustain a connection with Gates.
However, later evidence suggested that Epstein was attempting to rekindle his friendship with Gates and secure an investment.
In a letter from Supervisory Board Chairman James Comer, he invited Gates to meet, referencing documents obtained by the committee that could provide insights helpful to its investigation.
Gates expressed his willingness to meet with the committee, asserting that while he didn’t witness or engage in any illegal activities linked to Epstein, he looks forward to addressing their inquiries.
Melinda French Gates, in a recent podcast, expressed her disappointment regarding the documents released and stated that individuals connected to Epstein need to take responsibility. Reflecting on societal reckoning, she spoke out against the situations involving Epstein and those around him.
She shared personal sentiments, recalling moments from when her own daughters were of an age similar to the young women affected, making the revelations particularly difficult to digest. Although she has moved on from the turmoil of their marriage, she underscored that the questions regarding Epstein linger for everyone involved.
Melinda also made her stance clear: those who have caused harm need to provide explanations, not her.
The House Oversight Committee is also aiming to interview other key figures, including Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, former White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler, and long-time Clinton aide Doug Band, with Lutnick set to appear on May 6.
