Nagy’s Guidance for Dart
It’s clear that Matt Nagy has already had a chat with Jackson Dart about his new role.
It makes sense, right?
Here’s a young quarterback getting the chance to learn from one of the best in the game. So, Nagy shared what he knows about Patrick Mahomes with Dart.
The key takeaway for the second-year player? Well, Nagy was straightforward: “He’s Jackson Dart. He’s not Patrick Mahomes.”
Nagy, now 47, has quite a history with Mahomes, having joined the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator when Mahomes was just starting out. After spending some time as head coach of the Bears, he returned to the Chiefs and recognized Mahomes’ growth as a player.
Nagy wants to share whatever insights he can about Mahomes with Dart.
“Maybe we can incorporate some of those aspects into our routines,” he mentioned, referring to how things are done in Kansas City’s offense. “Jackson respects Patrick a lot, and we’ve discussed the journey he took to get to where he is. But it’s important to make it clear: he needs to be his own person. He’ll find his way.”
During conversations, Nagy expressed how surprised he was by Dart’s toughness and running ability, which he only truly appreciated after watching him in the previous season. “A year or two ago, I didn’t realize just how tough he really was,” he said. “He’s a tough, physical player and definitely a competitor.”
Nagy also noted Dart’s performance at the scouting combine, picking up on both his awkwardness and his standout qualities. “From the moment I met him, I sensed he was different,” Nagy remarked. “He seems eager to work and build trust, and I’m excited to help him grow.”
Harbaugh’s New Chapter
John Harbaugh was enthusiastic about finally addressing his new team, calling it a memorable experience.
This is a fresh start for the 63-year-old who has spent nearly two decades with the Ravens.
“It was an honor to stand in front of the New York Giants,” he said. “I encouraged them to share their thoughts.”
However, not everyone was present on the first day of voluntary practices. Harbaugh noted that defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence had requested a trade, while cornerback Paulson Adebo and defensive lineman Sam Roberts were absent due to personal matters.
“I’m not sure about Adebo,” Harbaugh said. “But he has his reasons, and that’s what matters.”
