Bruins Celebrated After Championship Win
During the first quarter of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 123-87 win against the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, the spotlight shifted. The UCLA Bruins women’s basketball team made a memorable appearance, holding more than just a trophy—they held a piece of history.
Just two nights earlier, they had secured a dominant 79-51 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks to clinch the NCAA National Championship in Phoenix. Now, they were at center court.
Head coach Cori Close was there, standing to the side as stars like Lauren Betts, Sienna Betts, Gabriella Jaquez, and Kiki Rice proudly displayed their national championship trophy, greeting an enthusiastic crowd.
The cheers for the Bruins were deafening, and it felt like purple and gold took over, especially after the Thunder’s impressive performance.
Some notable figures were in attendance, like Kate Hudson, who took a moment to commend the players for their exceptional season.
On the other hand, the Lakers struggled without key players like LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reeves. Their performance fell flat against the defending champions.
The only notable action for the Lakers was from guard Jared Vanderbilt, who was seen conversing with head coach JJ Redick during a timeout early in the second quarter.
This loss places the Lakers in a tie for fourth place in the Western Conference alongside the Houston Rockets.
