Michigan Democratic Party Upset Over Rally with Controversial Streamer

The Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is facing backlash after sharing a stage with the contentious anti-Israel streamer, Hasan Piker, who made a provocative statement claiming “America deserved 9/11.” Miranda Devine, a contributor for FOX News, criticized El-Sayed for appearing alongside Piker, suggesting it normalizes extreme views. Devine expressed concern about Piker’s questionable popularity and the rise of anti-American sentiments in his rhetoric.

At a campaign rally led by leftist social media influencers, Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pennsylvania) noted that high-income Americans might serve as the real “enemy.” In a video, she articulated that if one’s adversary is someone with different beliefs or a different faith, that perspective often stems from socio-economic disparities. She labeled the politics of fear and chaos as tactics needing scrutiny, implying they divert attention from more pressing issues, hinting at figures like Jeffrey Epstein.

El-Sayed, considered among the most progressive in Michigan’s three-way Democratic primary and endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, shared the platform with Piker, whose inflammatory remarks have drawn criticism from both sides of the aisle.

In a statement, Lee defended her involvement with Piker at the rally, arguing that the focus should shift away from past comments to address current threats and crises, such as President Trump’s remarks regarding Iran. She emphasized the importance of young people engaging with politics and suggested that questions about Piker’s statements should be directed to him directly.

During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” El-Sayed attempted to distance himself from Piker’s remarks, adding, “Just because showing up with someone doesn’t mean you agree with everything about them.”

El-Sayed also hinted at Lee potentially challenging Sen. John Fetterman for his seat in the future, given some dissatisfaction among Democrats regarding Fetterman’s recent choices that seemed to align with Republican views.

His opponents in the race, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) and State Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Mich.), reacted harshly to El-Sayed’s decision to campaign with Piker.

Stevens condemned the partnership outright, branding it unacceptable for a candidate hoping to represent all of Michigan, especially given Piker’s history of making hurtful remarks. She urged a focus on the challenges Michiganders face and the need to address those issues directly.

FOX News Digital has reached out to Lee’s office for comments regarding her statements and involvement.
