Trader Joe’s Recalls Popular Bread Products Due to Metal Fragments
One of the widely loved offerings from Trader Joe’s is being pulled from shelves after metal pieces were discovered in some of their breads.
This recall, which is enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, encompasses a range of bread items, notably the Trader Joe’s focaccia bread available in numerous stores across the nation.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture indicated that this action follows the identification of metal fragments in the bread. The source of the issue was traced back to roasted tomatoes supplied by one of their vendors.
The affected product is labeled “TRADER JOE’S Focaccia Bread Roasted Tomato & Parmesan” and is sold in 14-ounce packages.
According to the recall notice, the contaminated items were distributed between May 1, 2026, and October 15, 2026.
Consumers are being advised to either dispose of the items or return them to the place of purchase.
This recall affects several states, including California, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia, with a total of 23,459 products implicated.
This latest news comes on the heels of other recent recalls by Trader Joe’s.
Back on February 19, there was an incident involving their popular chicken fried rice product, which was recalled after customers found glass fragments in the packaging.
In that case, over 3.3 million pounds of the product—branded under both Trader Joe’s and Ajinomoto—were affected, with the latter only being shipped to Canada.
The chicken fried rice packaging reads: “TRADER JOE’S Chicken Fried Rice with Fried Rice, Vegetables, Seasoned Dark Chicken Meat, and Eggs,” and the best-before dates range from September 8, 2026, to November 17, 2026.
Last month, the company recalled additional frozen products due to concerns involving potential contamination from foreign objects, specifically glass.
The items that were impacted include:
- Chicken fried rice – Expiry date 2026/03/04 – 2027/02/10
- Vegetable fried rice – Expiry date 2026/02/28 – 2026/11/19
- Japanese-style fried rice – Expiry date 2026/02/28 – 2026/11/14
- Chicken Shumai – Expiration date 2026/03/13 – 2026/10/23
Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. also had to recall an additional 9,885,240 pounds of their vegetable fried rice following the discovery of glass shards in a single pound of the meal.
Overall, this contributes to a significant recall totaling nearly 10 million pounds of products, as referenced in FDA recommendations.
The glass pieces ranged from 1 to 3 centimeters in length and 2 to 4 millimeters in width.
Fortunately, no injuries related to the glass or metal fragments have been reported based on the recall information.
