Melania Trump Denies Links to Jeffrey Epstein
On Thursday, the First Lady, Melania Trump, formally addressed allegations connecting her to the late Jeffrey Epstein, categorically denying that she was a victim of his actions or that they had any friendship. In her statement, she criticized the media for their “despicable defamation attempts” aimed at damaging her reputation.
In her remarks from the White House, Melania stated, “The lies that link me to the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.” She expressed disappointment over the ethical standards of those spreading false information about her. “I do not object to their ignorance, but I reject their mean-spirited attempts to smear my reputation,” she added.
Melania clarified her connections to Epstein, noting that while she and her husband, Donald Trump, attended the same parties as him due to overlapping social circles, they were never friends. She refuted claims about an email exchange with Maxwell, describing her response as merely a polite note rather than casual communication. “I am not a victim of Epstein,” she asserted, explaining that she met Donald Trump at a New York City party in 1998, and her encounter with Epstein happened in 2000 at an event they both attended, unaware of his criminal background at that time.
She highlighted that numerous false statements and images associating her with Epstein have circulated on social media, urging people to be cautious about what they believe. “These images and stories are completely false,” she emphasized. Melania noted that her name has never appeared in court documents or testimonies related to Epstein’s crimes and stated clearly, “I have never been legally charged or convicted in connection with Epstein, sex trafficking, abuse of minors, or any other disturbing conduct.”
The First Lady expressed frustration over what she described as politically motivated attempts by individuals and groups to tarnish her reputation for personal gain. She and her attorney have actively fought against these unfounded claims and have succeeded in getting several parties, including The Daily Beast and HarperCollins UK, to retract their statements and apologize.
Melania suggested it’s time for Congress to take action, pointing out that Epstein was not acting alone and called for survivor-centered hearings to allow women affected by his actions to testify. “Every woman should have a day to tell her story in public if she wishes,” she stated, reinforcing the need for their testimonies to be recorded in the Congressional Record. “Then, and only then, will we know the truth,” she concluded.
