Sen. Kim Calls for Trump’s Removal Over Iran Threats
Senator Andy Kim (D-N.J.) has declared President Donald Trump “unfit to be president,” urging for his removal due to threats made against Iran. In a discussion with CNN’s John King, Kim voiced his belief that the president should no longer hold office.
He stated, “I don’t believe he’s fit to be commander-in-chief. I think he should be dismissed.” This remark followed Trump’s threats against Iran prior to a ceasefire agreement announced just days later.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump ominously warned, “Tonight an entire civilization will perish and never return.”
Kim labeled Trump as a danger to the American people, emphasizing that the president’s actions are at odds with what Americans value. He went on to say that if the Cabinet does not act to remove Trump, accountability lies with voters come November.
He noted, “The cabinet should act, but if they don’t, the House should definitely consider impeachment.” This sentiment echoed earlier concerns from other Democratic lawmakers regarding Trump’s aggressive stance towards Iran. Representative Diana DeGette (D-CO) called for immediate action under the 25th Amendment, condemning the president’s threats of war crimes.
In response, White House Press Secretary Davis Engle remarked that Democrats have been discussing impeachment even before Trump took office, criticizing them as “deranged, weak, and ineffective” in light of their low approval ratings.
On Tuesday, Trump announced via Truth Social that the U.S. and Iran had reached a ceasefire agreement to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for two weeks. He indicated that this decision followed consultations with leaders from Pakistan, who requested a halt to military actions against Iran, provided that Iran ensures safe passage through the Strait.
