Michelle Pfeiffer Takes on New Role in ‘The Madison’
Michelle Pfeiffer had a challenging decision to make before agreeing to star in Taylor Sheridan’s new series, ‘The Madison.’
During a recent appearance on the “Today” show, host Willie Geist mentioned that Pfeiffer was surprised when Sheridan reached out to her with a unique proposal: “I’ve designed a series around you. Are you on board?” She recalled thinking, “Wow, that sounds great! I’d love to read something.”
However, the path wasn’t exactly straightforward. Sheridan, known for his unscripted approach, initially rejected her, stating he preferred to “cast first and then write the script.” This left Pfeiffer uncertain, and they went back and forth for a few weeks. “I realized I couldn’t win this fight, so I took a leap of faith,” she admitted, acknowledging Sheridan’s strong track record.
Sheridan’s past successes, especially with shows like ‘Yellowstone,’ significantly influenced her decision. He described the character and the family’s journey in the series, which piqued her interest.
But it wasn’t just Sheridan’s reputation that swayed her. Pfeiffer reached out to her friend, actress Helen Mirren, who had worked with Sheridan before. “I thought she might be very upfront with me,” Pfeiffer reflected. Mirren encouraged her, saying, “The script is great, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.” This endorsement made a difference.
Pfeiffer also mentioned that she’s thrilled to work with her longtime friend Kurt Russell in the series. “I want to be with Kurt all the time,” she had said in a previous interview. The series follows her character, Stacey Clyburn, who leaves behind a life in New York after facing a tragic loss.
‘The Madison’ has already achieved remarkable success, with its premiere episode garnering eight million views within just ten days. It’s been confirmed for a second season, marking it as one of Sheridan’s most successful releases to date.
