Dodgers Fans Embrace New Commemorative Cup, But at a Cost

Fans of the Dodgers are excited about the team’s latest commemorative cup, but many are pondering its steep price.

During a game against the Rangers on Friday, Los Angeles debuted plastic beverage containers that resemble small coolers. The cups quickly gained popularity among fans, but the price tag shocked some attendees.

“I didn’t think it would cost about $50,” said Dodgers fan Adriana Gonzalez after ordering one filled with tequila and Red Bull.

The official price is $39.99, yet with tax included, it easily surpasses the $40 mark. Almost every fan interviewed at Dodger Stadium expressed that they felt the pricing was excessive.

“I literally couldn’t believe I spent $45 on just a cup,” shared Sylvia Verdugo.

Despite some initial disbelief, most fans felt the collectible was worth the splurge in the end.

“This is Dodger Stadium; they have to make a profit,” explained Eric Whitron. “People are willing to pay more for the experience. Just look at the lines.”

Originally, the Dodgers had intended to offer the mugs on Opening Day last month, but fans were informed of a two-week delay due to shipping challenges.

Gerardo Encininas mentioned that he was eager to purchase one as soon as he learned about it, regardless of the price.

“This experience is worth it,” he said. “I even use it at home.”

This isn’t the first pricey cup controversy at Dodger Stadium this year; during the season opener, a Shohei Otani-themed tumbler was introduced at a surprising price of $79.99.

Unfortunately for Friday’s buyers, the new cups don’t include free refills like the Otani cups.

Still, Gonzalez expressed some delight when she took her first sip. “It’s strong,” she said, chuckling.
