Swalwell’s Legal Team Addresses Misconduct Allegations

Representative Eric Swalwell’s attorney, Elias Davayer, stated that while the California congressman denies all allegations of sexual misconduct, he acknowledges a “mistake in judgment.” This admission comes as Swalwell has seen numerous endorsements pulled in light of claims made by multiple women.

“These allegations are taken seriously,” Davayer remarked. He emphasized that Swalwell categorically denies any wrongdoing, asserting plans to defend his rights in court during a conversation with Erex Michaelson on CNN’s program.

Davayer’s comments followed questions from Michelson on Swalwell’s refusal to address the matter directly. The congressman had recently released a video response amid growing concerns just weeks ahead of the gubernatorial election.

“While officials accept responsibility for any potential mistakes in judgment, they firmly reject any allegations of misconduct,” Davayer stated, refusing to provide specifics on what these mistakes might entail.

Questions arose regarding whether Swalwell breached any laws in admitting that his wife had been unfaithful. In response, Davayer opted not to delve into the details, citing an ongoing investigation and the need to protect privileged information.

He also voiced skepticism about the timing of the allegations, highlighting that they arose with only 25 days remaining before the election. “This timing certainly warrants scrutiny,” he said, adding that this context calls into question the credibility of the claims.

While Michelson referred to documentation and communications related to the case, Davayer refrained from exploring those aspects further. “I don’t want to discuss specifics right now,” he maintained, reiterating that the investigation continues.

Despite calls from Democratic colleagues like Representatives Adam Schiff and Ruben Gallego urging him to withdraw from the race, Davayer confirmed Swalwell’s intent to press on with the campaign.

“The support rallying around these claims raises my suspicions about a possible political conspiracy. It makes me wonder why Democrats are consolidating votes to ensure their candidate prevails in the primary,” he expressed.

The defense team is exploring legal avenues, having already issued cease-and-desist letters to some accusers. “We believe these allegations are unfounded,” Davayer stated, revealing that they are reviewing all their options after identifying those behind the claims.

In summary, Davayer declared, “I haven’t seen convincing evidence of the supposed wrongdoing.”

Inquiries have been made to Swalwell’s office for further commentary on the unfolding situation.
