Hornets vs. Heat Broadcast Cuts Out During Overtime

Basketball enthusiasts faced a moment of panic on Tuesday night when Prime Video’s coverage of the thrilling overtime match between the Hornets and the Heat abruptly dropped for nearly two minutes, just as the game neared its climax.

The disruption occurred with 48.1 seconds remaining in the game, while the Hornets maintained a slim three-point lead.

As analyst Stan Van Gundy was providing insights, viewers were met with silence and a black screen. After a few seconds of confusion, a banner indicating a “technical problem” was displayed.

The feed was out for approximately 1 minute and 47 seconds, although the remaining game time had already dwindled to 26 seconds, with the Hornets ahead 125-120. In a nail-biting finish, Charlotte clinched the win at 127-126.

It’s unclear whether the broadcast team, consisting of Ian Eagle and Van Gundy, had any awareness of the technical glitch.

This incident sparked outrage among viewers, including NBA star LeBron James, who aired his displeasure on social media.

“Please tell me the game wasn’t just interrupted?!!!? Am I tripping?? Oh my god,” he tweeted.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the only hiccup during the broadcast. A sports news account noted that the audio consistently ran slightly ahead of the video for the duration of the game.

This chaotic finish saw Tyler Herro land a crucial three-pointer to narrow the gap for the Heat. He was subsequently fouled and converted three free throws, briefly putting Miami in the lead. However, LaMelo Ball countered with a layup just seconds from the end, ensuring that the Hornets sealed their victory with defensive prowess.
