Police look into sexual assault claim against Katy Perry following Ruby Rose's allegation

Ruby Rose has announced that she has officially submitted a police report. This act is significant for her, as she believes it means she can’t discuss the details publicly anymore.

Rose claims the alleged incident took place nearly 20 years ago at the Spice Market Nightclub in Melbourne, Australia.

The 40-year-old actress mentioned in a social media post that she is now restricted from making further comments about the case.

“Detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team are looking into a historical sexual assault incident from 2010,” stated Acting Sergeant Paul Hogan from Victoria Police. “They’ve received information indicating this occurred at a licensed venue in Melbourne’s central business district.”

She shared that she has completed all necessary reports, explaining, “This means I can no longer comment, repost, or publicly discuss the incidents or those involved.”

Despite receiving public support, these restrictions could lead to an emotional release for her.

“It might look like I’m disregarding all the supportive messages or others’ experiences, but that’s not the case,” she added. “This is a typical request from the police and, frankly, it’s comforting.”

Rose expressed hope for beginning a healing journey and stated, “We love you all so much.”

This news follows a weekend where Rose brought up multiple allegations online.

In one post, she stated, “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who cares what she thinks?”

When a follower asked for more details, she described the troubling encounter but mentioned she had originally made light of it to cope.

“Then I threw up on her. I decided to share my story, but at the time, I thought turning it into ‘a funny little drunk story’ would help,” Rose explained.

She also mentioned that, at the time, professional pressures led her to keep quiet about it.

Afterward, she claimed Perry helped her secure a U.S. visa, which compelled her to remain silent. “I confided in her that I didn’t view her as a good person. Unfortunately, I was met with backlash from many others,” she lamented.

Perry’s representatives have firmly rejected Rose’s allegations, labeling them as outright false.

“The statements Ruby Rose has made about Katy Perry on social media are not just completely untrue, but they’re also dangerous and irresponsible,” the response stressed. “Ms. Rose has a track record of making serious allegations against multiple individuals, all of which have been categorically denied by those named.”

Rose, now 40, reflected on how long it took her to voice this experience publicly. “Back in my early 20s, it would take me almost 20 years to say this out loud,” she noted. “I’m grateful that I found my voice, but it reflects the deep impact of trauma and sexual assault.”

She commented on the challenges of talking about female-on-female violence, emphasizing she isn’t avoiding legal consequences and even welcomes a lawsuit.

“You’re more than welcome to sue me, Katy (though I doubt she will because it happened; several people witnessed it in public),” Rose wrote. “There were numerous things that happened in the years leading up to her catchy song that she never wanted to address.” She alluded to substantial psychological manipulation in that environment.

In what seems like a subtle reaction, Perry shared a snippet of her song “By the Grace of God” on Instagram with the caption “I love you.” The lyrics include lines about moving on and the liberating nature of truth.

As discussions about Perry’s past have resurfaced, an older interview featuring Anna Kendrick has gained traction, where she humorously describes a similar situation during a late-night show appearance.
