Teen Charged with Murder in Stabbing Incident at Ohio State University

A 15-year-old boy faces murder charges after allegedly stabbing another teenager fatally on the Ohio State University campus, as reported.

The accused, whose name hasn’t been disclosed, was with friends on a grassy area behind Lincoln Tower around 7:45 PM on Friday when a confrontation erupted with another group.

Authorities state that the boy pulled out a knife and stabbed 19-year-old Guiliani “Gio” Holguin Jacinto in the chest.

Prosecutor Lucas Backus noted, “The young man produced a knife, stabbed the victim in the chest and fled the scene.”

Unfortunately, Jacinto succumbed to his injuries.

University police apprehended the boy just five minutes after the incident occurred.

Backus added, “While in custody, the young man voluntarily stated to officers that he had brought a knife and stabbed the victim. He also admitted that after the stabbing, he disposed of the knife before fleeing.”

This marks the first homicide on the Ohio State University campus since 2010, although neither the suspect nor the victim was part of the university community.

The boy’s attorney contended that the stabbing was an act of self-defense and claimed that video evidence exists showing his client being attacked prior to the stabbing.

Attorney Brian Joslin commented, “I have already seen one video in which my client and his friend appear to be attacked, and then my client runs away from the attacker.”

Some students expressed confusion as they learned about the incident via social media rather than through the campus alert system.

Freshman Kayla Bollinger mentioned, “I was a little surprised that I didn’t get the Buckeye Alert or hear from the school, but I found out about it through my Snapchat story.”

Prosecutors have requested that the boy be tried as an adult, but he remains in a juvenile detention center pending his next court appearance.
