Wings Keep Draft Pick under Wraps

The Dallas Wings are maintaining a low profile with their top draft pick.

Aji Fuad, the team’s first overall selection, was introduced on Thursday. However, the organization made it clear that he would not be addressing his personal relationship with teammate Paige Bueckers.

“We respect the need for questions to be asked but will not comment on our players’ private lives,” said a spokesperson when asked if Fuad and Bueckers are still dating and how they intend to manage their relationship in the league.

Bueckers, who received the WNBA Rookie of the Year accolade in 2025 and was Fuad’s teammate at UConn, confirmed their relationship during an All-Star weekend last year.

Just last June, Fuad shared a post on Instagram featuring his phone case, which had the phrase “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend” inscribed on it. This sparked interest in their status.

In an interview with WAG Talk last July, Bueckers playfully responded “Azzie Fudd” when asked about being in a relationship.

As for their current status, it’s unclear. The Wings appear to be keeping things tight-lipped.

On Monday night, the ambiance was lively as the Buccaneers celebrated the draft in Manhattan. Bueckers cheered when Fuad was selected by the Wings and later posed in a freshly minted Dallas jersey with his name on it.

“I’m really looking forward to playing alongside Paige again,” Fuad expressed to ESPN after his pick, highlighting her talent and fun spirit.

It’s bound to create some intriguing dynamics during games, and there will likely be fans eager to learn more about their relationship, even if the details are somewhat elusive.
