A new video has surfaced showing a group of individuals in Brooklyn emerging from a manhole, yet the reason for their presence remains a mystery.
This particular clip, seen early Friday morning, captures several men at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Lynch Street, as reported by Williamsburg 360.
The footage reveals a man using a headlamp to push aside a manhole cover, subsequently helping another individual out before he’s followed by a third person wielding a shovel.
As the video continues, more men, equipped with flashlights and other tools, emerge from the depths. There’s a tense moment when one man almost gets hit by a passing vehicle while surfacing from the sewer.
The final man to exit crawls out, replaces the manhole cover, hops on top of it to secure it, and then walks off with the others.
Police reported that the manhole cover was removed around 1 a.m. Friday, with the group departing shortly before 4 a.m.
Interestingly, another similar incident took place at around 2 a.m. that same day, approximately eight miles away at McDonald Street and Colin Place in Gravesend, where a group of men was also seen entering and exiting manholes.
Footage shows seven men with flashlights and equipment being dropped off by a car near a manhole, where they entered in succession as the vehicle blocked traffic.
Once they were all inside, the driver exited, replaced the manhole cover, and left.
Authorities remain unclear about the intentions of either group and whether the incidents are connected. The NYPD has ensured both sewers were cleaned for safety, and an investigation is ongoing.
