Former Teacher Arrested on Multiple Charges in Louisiana

A former fifth-grade teacher from Louisiana has been taken into custody on several serious charges involving underage students.

Marisa Noel, 31, is facing 25 charges, which include 10 counts of lewd acts against a juvenile, one count of first-degree rape, two counts linked to child sexual abuse material, one count of unlawful communication, and three counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor. This information comes from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Noel is alleged to have misused her position of trust with her students, as authorities have detailed extensive claims involving numerous alleged victims.

The investigation commenced on January 28 after Sheriff Beckett Breaux received complaints concerning an “inappropriate relationship” between Noel and one of her former students, as noted in a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office. At that time, she was employed at Teche Elementary School.

With assistance from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, authorities apparently gathered sufficient evidence to charge Noel with four counts of lewd acts against a juvenile and four counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor. Additionally, further charges have been added after the identification of another anonymous victim.

The age of the victims has not been disclosed, leaving some details a bit murky. Noel was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on Monday and remains in custody.

No bail has been set for the new charges; however, it’s noted that her previous bail was set at $750,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and it remains uncertain if more charges will follow.

At this time, neither the St. Martin Parish School District nor the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office has commented on the situation.
