Pope Leo XIV Criticizes the Use of Religion for Gain

Pope Leo XIV, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, has spoken out against the exploitation of religion for military, economic, or political objectives. He stated, “Blessed are the peacemakers, but woe to those who twist religion and the name of God for their gain, dragging the sacred into darkness.” This declaration was made during a speech in Cameroon on Thursday.

In his address, he referred to those who manipulate these beliefs as “masters of war.” He remarked, “These masters pretend not to know the destruction takes seconds, while rebuilding can take a lifetime. They ignore the billions spent on violence while funds for healing and education are scarce.”

Following the Pope’s remarks, Fox News Digital sought a response from the White House. In the aftermath, President Trump discussed the Pope’s statements, emphasizing the importance of the Pope understanding that “Iran has killed 42,000 unarmed protesters.” He insisted on the necessity of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, stating that it poses a danger to the world.

When questioned about possibly meeting the Pope to discuss their disagreements, Trump dismissed the idea as unnecessary. He later expressed his frustrations on social media, criticizing the Pope for his stance on foreign issues and arguing that he didn’t want a Pope who appears to support Iran’s nuclear ambitions or critiques his presidency.

In another post, he highlighted the operations of Venezuela and criticized the Pope for any perceived disrespect towards him as the president, reiterating his focus on crime rates and economic achievements since taking office.
