Ana Kasparian expressed her frustration with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during a recent episode of “The Young Turks,” suggesting that AOC has exhibited significant weaknesses in her voting behavior regarding Israel. Kasparian stated, “I’m tired of AOC being so shockingly weak at things she shouldn’t be weak at,” especially considering that a majority of Democratic voters disapprove of Israel’s actions.
These comments were made after a social media interaction where Ocasio-Cortez posted about a plot targeting Palestinian activist, Nerdeen Kiswani, which Kasparian criticized. She accused Ocasio-Cortez of inconsistency in her voting patterns related to foreign policy, pointing out that her recent votes appeared to bow to external pressures.
Kasparian sarcastically remarked about supporting military funding to Israel, only to underscore her true stance: “I’m obviously being sarcastic there.” She emphasized that Ocasio-Cortez’s history shows a tendency to retreat under pressure, asserting that no one can force a lawmaker to change their vote, indicating it was AOC’s own discomfort with pressure that influenced her decisions.
Specifically, Kasparian noted Ocasio-Cortez’s vote against an amendment aimed at reducing military aid to Israel, arguing that such support shouldn’t exist at all. “I don’t care. Money is fungible,” she said, framing her dissent around the unmet progressive expectations that led to Ocasio-Cortez’s election in the first place.
In her critique, Kasparian contrasted the congresswoman’s fiery speeches with her actual voting behavior, lamenting that while they are inspiring, they often lack tangible impact. “When the pressure comes and you have an opportunity to show us that you’re going to do something with your vote, at least you cave in,” she remarked. While she insisted her criticisms stem from disappointment rather than outright opposition, Kasparian concluded that AOC’s recent actions represent a troubling sign of weakness in leadership.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to Ocasio-Cortez for a response, but did not receive an immediate reply.
