Becky Lynch wins Women's Intercontinental Championship for the third time at WrestleMania 42

WrestleMania 42 Highlights

Las Vegas – On Saturday night at WrestleMania 42, Becky Lynch defeated AJ Lee to claim the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, achieving a milestone no other WWE female superstar has reached before.

Lynch made history by becoming the first to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship three times, surpassing Lee. She initially secured the title in June 2025 against Lyra Valkyria and then again in November against Maxine Dupri.

She had previously lost the title to Lee at Elimination Chamber, which led to a heated month-long rivalry.

Before WrestleMania 42, Lee offered Lynch a chance at the championship. It seems that strategy paid off. Throughout the match, there were moments of conflict with referee Jessica Kerr, but Lynch cleverly took advantage of a broken rope buckle.

Ultimately, with a manhandle slam, Lynch sealed her victory.

This marks the second consecutive year that Lynch finishes WrestleMania as champion. She made her return to WWE at WrestleMania 41, where she and Valkyria won the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Now, Lynch leaves Allegiant Stadium as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

At this point, she holds seven Women’s Championship titles, including three Women’s Intercontinental Championships and two Tag Team Titles.

Lee’s short reign as champion was brief, as WrestleMania 42 was her first event in eleven years. It’s uncertain what lies ahead for her.
