Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio: WrestleMania 42 Recap
Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio once shared a brotherly bond within the Judgment Day faction, dominating segments on Monday Night Raw for years. However, as championships and chances slipped through their fingers, tensions escalated between them.
The situation worsened when Balor compelled Mysterio to lose the Intercontinental Championship to Penta. Following this incident, Balor exited Judgment Day, leaving Mysterio and Liv Morgan in leadership roles while others, such as J.D. McDonough, Raquel Rodriguez, and Roxanne Perez, stayed on.
In the aftermath, Mysterio and his supporters took aim at Balor, launching an ambush on an episode of Raw. This sparked an intense rivalry culminating in a match at WrestleMania 42. In a surprising twist, Raw’s general manager, Adam Pearce, turned the match into a street fight just hours prior to the event.
Balor, embracing his “Demon” persona, entered the ring clad in striking red and black paint while Mysterio sported his distinctive mask. Their clash was fierce from the outset.
Mysterio began aggressively, trapping Balor’s head between chairs before executing his signature 619. He then attempted to pin Balor down but without success, even as he sent Balor crashing through a table in the corner.
However, Balor’s resilience shone through. He retaliated with powerful clotheslines, swinging a chair into Mysterio, and even trapping his head again between the chairs before dropkicking him into the corner. The climactic moment came when Balor positioned Mysterio on the table and executed the Coup de Grâce for the win.
With this victory, Balor may have exorcised his inner demons, but it seems Mysterio remains ensnared by his. The match was a thrilling conclusion to their rivalry, marked by raw energy and intense moments.
