Nigel Farage’s Reform Party Proposes Deportation Plan for Illegal Immigrants
Nigel Farage’s Reform Party has unveiled a proposal to potentially deport hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who entered the UK via small boats and received asylum. The announcement was made on Sunday, with the party asserting that a reform-minded government would re-evaluate all successful asylum cases from the past five years. They aim to identify individuals who may have entered the country unlawfully or overstayed their visas, as part of a broader effort to address what they term as the “mass immigration” brought on by the traditional political parties.
If found to have entered illegally or overstayed, individuals could lose their right to remain in the UK, with estimates suggesting this could impact over 400,000 people.
Zia Yusuf, Shadow Home Secretary for Reform, commented that the current administration has essentially operated an open borders policy. He criticized the government for rewarding those who break the law by entering the UK unlawfully. “Reform will change this. Today, we are announcing that a reform government will revisit asylum grants over the past five years, disqualifying and deporting those who do not meet legal entry requirements,” Yusuf stated. He emphasized the need to restore justice in the UK.
Furthermore, Farage noted that his party intends to detain all illegal immigrants during the deportation process. This marks a shift from the existing system, where illegal immigrants are often integrated into communities and allowed freer movement, which he claims has led to increased risks of crime, including sexual assaults.
“We must consider this a national emergency. There are serious risks of terrorism, in addition to social issues affecting women,” Farage said, reflecting on the situation. He expressed concern, stating that incidents of sexual assault involving these individuals have been reported regularly. “There are cultural differences at play that affect what is considered acceptable behavior,” he added, insisting that his party would work to put an end to the issues at hand.
This news comes after a recent spike, with 602 illegal immigrants crossing the English Channel in a single day—the highest number recorded since February, contributing to an annual total exceeding 6,000, according to reports.
Despite efforts to find solutions to the immigration crisis, recent data indicate that illegal crossings have surged under Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s administration, showing higher numbers than previous governments. The migration challenge is expected to intensify in the weeks ahead; a seasonal rise in crossings is likely due to warmer weather, and with a nearly £500 million extension of the UK-France deal set to expire next month, police resources may shift from coastal patrols unless the British government increases funding to France.
