Mike Vrabel, the head coach of the New England Patriots, has been married to his college sweetheart, Jen, since 1999.
Earlier this year, reports emerged when Page Six shared a picture of him getting close with NFL reporter Deanna Russini at a luxury hotel in Sedona, Arizona. Mike defended the encounter, stating it was “totally innocent.” While Russini claimed they were part of a larger group, several witnesses remarked that they hadn’t seen anyone else around.
As of now, Jen hasn’t publicly addressed the situation.
Here’s a bit more about Mike’s wife, who he has been with for over two decades.
She attended Ohio State University
Jen met Mike at The Ohio State University. She noticed him in class and, interestingly, got his phone number through a professor, as noted in reports.
She earned her degree in dental hygiene in 1998. In 2016, Mike and Jen contributed $75,000 to improve the Woody Hayes Athletic Center at OSU, which enhanced various facilities for student-athletes.
Mike expressed their excitement over the donation, emphasizing Ohio’s significant role in their lives.
She is an athlete
Jen was quite the athlete herself, playing volleyball at OSU between 1993 and 1996. She earned accolades as a two-time AVCA All-District selection and was recognized both academically and athletically.
Mike, being an accomplished football player at OSU, likely found a common ground with her as they navigated the student-athlete experience together.
She married Mike in 1999
Jen and Mike tied the knot in 1999 after he began his professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2024 with an extended trip to Italy. Mike has occasionally shared heartfelt thoughts about Jen, emphasizing the bond they share, especially when he became the head coach of the Patriots.
They have two sons
The couple welcomed two sons, Tyler and Carter, into their family. Tyler was born in 2000 and Carter, in 2001. Mike has been open about missing Carter’s birth due to practice commitments, a moment he reflected on with some regret, acknowledging Jen’s strength during that time.
Both boys followed in their parents’ athletic footsteps, with Tyler playing college football and Carter engaging in college baseball. Tyler is now coaching at Boston College, while Carter played at different institutions.
Mike admits he had ‘difficult’ conversations with family after Russini photo scandal
Following the controversy surrounding the photo with Russini, Mike spoke candidly about having tough discussions with his family. He expressed the importance of making wise choices both personally and professionally, aiming to avoid distractions for his team.
During a press conference, he remarked that such matters are personal and emphasized his dedication to the organization and fans, ensuring he would approach each day with a focused mindset.
