Controversial Incident at Anti-ICE Protest
A man filmed attacking a Turning Point USA reporter during an anti-ICE protest earlier this month has stated he is contemplating leaving the country due to the negative fallout from the incident.
Chris Ostroshko and his daughter, Paige, were involved in an incident on April 10 that appeared to be premeditated, as evidenced by the video captured by bystanders. They confronted Savannah Hernandez, who was documenting the protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, resulting in a physical altercation where they punched and shoved her.
Hernandez published the footage on her social media, highlighting how the public’s reaction has affected the Ostroshko family. In a subsequent interview, Ostroshko portrayed himself and his family as victims, claiming they have faced relentless harassment since the video gained attention.
“I think, I don’t know if you’ve experienced this, but it’s like constant—hundreds of calls and messages every day. It’s exhausting, really,” he remarked in the video. He expressed concern about the impact on his entire family, emphasizing that the situation has been overwhelming and unprecedented for him.
Hernandez initially shared the attack video on April 12, followed by another on April 13, showing Ostroshko instructing his daughter to blow a whistle directly at Hernandez. This interaction escalated, with Hernandez documenting the aggressiveness displayed by Paige as she invaded her personal space.
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Harmeet K. Dhillon, hinted at a federal investigation into the matter. Hernandez also indicated that she might have suffered a concussion during the encounter.
Despite the footage showing their aggressive behavior, Ostroshko and his family have continued to assert that they are the real victims in this situation. Hernandez countered this by pointing out that Paige had boasted about her freedom while they were still evading potential legal repercussions. There has been no confirmation yet from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office regarding charges against the Ostroshko family, while investigations by the FBI and DHS are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty has pursued charges against ICE personnel related to incidents during Operation Metro Surge and is reportedly considering charges related to other violent events.
