A new documentary series focused on the Gilgo Beach murders has just been released on Prime Video, coinciding with recent developments in the ongoing case.
“Killing Ground: The Gilgo Beach Murders” is a four-part series that premiered on April 22, shortly after suspect Rex Heuerman admitted guilt to eight murder counts dating back to 1993.
Hailing from Massapequa Park, N.Y., Heuerman confessed to killing several young women, including Amber Lynn Costello (27), Megan Waterman (22), and Melissa Barthelemy (24), known collectively as the “Gilgo Four.” He also admitted to murdering Jessica Taylor (20), Sandra Kostila (28)—who was the first victim in 1993—and Karen Bergata (34), a case that was previously unsolved.
Prosecutors indicated that Heuerman will face three consecutive life sentences with no chance of parole, with sentencing set for June 17.
According to the official synopsis from Prime Video, the series delves into one of the most notorious criminal cases, unpacking the investigation as new insights begin to emerge.
